Willard Howard Barnard

Willard Howard “Willie” Barnard, 81, of Buchanan, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Barnard and Laura Leanna Jackson and mother-in-law, Eunice Sprinkle.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Harriett Lewis Barnard; sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Anne Barnard and Randy and Melissa Barnard; grandsons, Jacob (Laura Jane) and Justin Barnard; sister, Phyllis Price; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Joy Barnard; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of Buchanan friends from the Moose Lodge to Good Times and everywhere in between.

Willie was the “chief instigator” in maintenance for Piedmont then US Air for over 30 years. He also had a love for horses and could be seen on numerous occasions, on one causing a stir. “Barnyard Willie” had many animals like goats, chickens, roosters, along with horses.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Wednesday, August 21, 2024 in Botetourt Funeral Home, Buchanan. Graveside services will be held at 2pm Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Danny Quirin officiating.
