Trystan B. Lowdermilk, 17, of Buchanan, was unexpectedly taken home far too soon on Sunday, October 30, 2016. An avid enthusiast of the outdoors, Trystan loved fishing, hunting, kayaking, and 4-wheeling with his friends and family and was a very skilled wood-worker. Throughout his youth, Trystan was a Red Sox and Matt Kenseth fan and enjoyed baseball and soccer. Additionally, he participated in the Buchanan Baptist Youth Group and had accepted Christ. Trystan was a member of the chess club and varsity swim team at James River High School, competing on the state relay team. He planned to attend Virginia Tech next year to major in building construction. A fun-spirited and articulate young man with a heart of gold, you could always count on Trystan to happily and willingly get you out of a jam. He could make anyone laugh and was loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Suzanne Lamond. In addition to his parents, Brian and Michelle Lowdermilk; Trystan is survived by two sisters, Tiffany and Kimberly; grandparents, David and Peggy Lowdermilk; grandfather, Don Lilley, Jr.; nephew, Blaine; and niece, Katryn; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The family will receive family and friends at 12:30pm on Saturday, November 5, 2016, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm on the football field of James River High School, Buchanan, VA. Flowers are beautiful, but the family wishes donations be made to the Trystan Lowdermilk Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Bank of Botetourt. Burial will be private.
