Ruth Austin Long

Ruth Austin Long went to be with our Lord on July 23, 2019. She was 81 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garrett and Nettie Austin; daughter, Glenda Wilhelm Ruff; brother, Joe Austin; and sisters, Maude Hayslett, Nettie Viar, and Vinton McDaniel. Ruth is survived by three daughters, Della Ballard of Lexington, Darlene 'De' Clark of Buena Vista, and Christie Falkner and husband, James 'Jimmy' Falkner of Texas; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and beloved fur baby, Bridgette. She attended Rapps Mill Church for many years and since her move to Buena Vista, has been a member of First Brethern Church. Ruth absolutely loved her church and took great joy in attending Bible Study there. She also loved her flower gardens and was an avid reader. The family would like to accept visitors at First Brethren Church in Buena Vista from 1pm to 2pm on Thursday, July 25th with funeral services immediately following there at 2pm. Grave side services will be private at Rapps Mill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given in Ruth's name to Rockbridge Area Hospice or First Brethren Church of Buena Vista.
