Roger Lee Layman

Roger Lee Layman, 75, of Troutville, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018. Born and raised in Buchanan, Roger had retired as a Master Sergeant with the US Army serving in Viet Nam and the Army Reserves. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Eunice Smith Layman; brother, Harold Layman; and nephew, Robbie Owen. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Brenda Austin Layman; daughter and son-in-law, Heather L. and Larry Wilson; grandchildren, Austin and Lauren Wilson; sisters, Norma Harris and Linda Paxton; sister-in-law, Carilee Layman; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, November 5, 2018 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Rev. Marc Barber officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Buchanan with military honors. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm at Botetourt Funeral Home. 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, Va.
