Ray Richard Noell

Ray Richard Noell, 85, of Bedford County (Jordantown) went home to be with his Lord on Monday, February 21, 2022. He was a devoted Husband, Dad, Grandad (Gengay) and Great Grandad and Sunday School Teacher at Barnhardt Baptist Church. He dedicated his life to serving God and caring for his family and friends. He loved fishing, NASCAR and bluegrass, especially gospel bluegrass. He was well known for his banjo playing and his band, Sounds of Bluegrass. Ray was a volunteer for almost 26 years at the Carilion Cancer Center every Thursday morning playing bluegrass with his band for the cancer patients waiting for their treatments. He was given an award for being a long time volunteer there. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Wright Noell; his father, Reginald (Rex) Noell; and his sister, Mary Jane Noell Foutz. He is survived by his wife, Pauline McGuire Noell of 65 years; his sister, Dorothy (Dot) Noell Preston; his children, Cindy Noell; Danny Noell and wife Melanie; his granddaughters Megan Noell, Mandy Noell and Michelle Noell and his pride and joy, Bennett Ray Noell, his great grandson. The family will visit with friends and family on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022 from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at Barnhardt Baptist Church, 1033 Brittle Street, Goodview, VA (Stewartsville) and a celebration of life will begin at 1:00 pm.
