Penny Ann Saunders

January 11, 1946 — October 11, 2018

Penny Ann Saunders, 72, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 in her home in Fincastle after many years of illness. She will be reunited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Saunders and a niece, Sharon T. Perdue. Surviving are her boys, Ferris Booth Jr. and wife, Susie of Calloway; Michael W. Booth of Bedford; sisters, Mrs. M. Geraldine Trent of Vinton; Mrs. Barbara Overstreet of Salem; Ms. Hettie Saunders of NC; brothers, Ralph E. Saunders of Vinton; R. Neal Saunders of Vinton; nieces, Brenda Trussler of NC; Lindsey Saunders of Vinton; Kayla Saunders of Vinton; nephews, Jeffrey Trussler and wife, Lisa of NC; Christopher Saunders of Vinton; aunt, Mrs. June Wilkes of Vinton; and many cousins and friends. She had a full and active life, earning an academic scholarship for her RN license, plus several higher degrees and positions until her illness took control. Other than her siblings during this ordeal, we must mention two special people who went above and beyond on their love. Carr L. Kinder stood by her until his passing and Maggie Perry continued for many years, how blessed she was. Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard his call, I turned by back and left it all. Graveside services will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. Please call 540-342-7566 for date and time.
