Pauline Boblett Deacon

"Well done thy good and faithful servant" Matthew 23:21. Pauline Boblett Deacon, 93, of Buchanan, beloved mother, wife, daughter, and sister, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 16, 2015. She passed in her home with family and friends knowing she was headed to paradise. Mrs. Deacon taught school over 30 years and was a member of Virginia Presbyterian Church where she filled the roll of Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Presbyterian Women. Her love of teaching never stopped and it was her greatest joy to see students that she had taught over the years. Her strong will through many illnesses and adversities was an affirmation of her strong faith in God and her powerful strength. These qualities were the background she grew up with and the same qualities she has instilled in every generation of her family and to those people she met. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Deacon; parents, Alvin and Edith Boblett; sisters, Lillian Compton, Dorothy Falls, and Sue Adams. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Carolyn "Susie" Deacon of Eagle Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Dwight "Butch" Ponton of Buchanan; grandchildren; Heather P. and Drake Breeden, Ashley P. and DeWayne Mundy, Justin M. and Tiffany Deacon; great-grandchildren, Owen and Hadleigh Breeden, Hunter, Jeremiah, Noah, and Luke Mundy, Brayden and Sawyer Deacon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Curtis Deacon, Boyd (Laura) Deacon, Boliver (Darlene) Deacon, Mary Jo Deacon, Phyllis D. Bralley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to longtime friends Margie Dupree and Cindy Harper for all their love and support; caretakers, Allison McCulloch and Vicky D. Taman; Carilion Hospice Team, special nurses Cynthia and Regina; Dr. Robert Glenney and the staff of Buchanan Family Carilion. Memorials may be made to Virginia Presbyterian Church, PO Box 328, Buchanan, VA 24066. The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm with funeral services at 1pm on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Virginia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Marina Gopadze officiating.
