Paul N. Hubble, Jr.

Paul Nelson Hubble, Jr. passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, May 24, 2022. He was born on April 2, 1946 in Roanoke VA to Paul and Margaret Hubble of Buchanan VA. After graduating from James River High School in 1964, where he was Captain of the football team, he attended Emory & Henry College in Emory VA. While there, he was on the football team and joined the Beta Lambda Zeta Fraternity (Lambs). In 1965, he met Jean Keller Blake, who would become his wife in 1968 until she passed away in August 2015. He graduated in 1968 with a degree in Economics. He was employed as a Terminal Facility Manager with Roadway Trucking following graduation and remained with them until his retirement in 2003. Paul became very involved in the Alumni Association at Emory & Henry, serving as President from 2005 to 2009. He was presented with the prestigious Fred Selfe Distinctive Service Award in 2009. He served on the E&H Board of Trustees from 2010-2021. Paul was an avid fan of Emory & Henry athletics, especially Football and Men’s and Women’s Basketball. He was excited about becoming a fan of Women’s Wrestling. For decades, he delighted in supporting the College with his time, energy, and philanthropy. Paul is survived by his son, Paul Nelson Hubble, III and wife, Meah; daughter Bethany Lynn Hubble Douliery and husband, Olivier; sister, Judy Hubble Hannah; grandchildren Layne Hubble, Mollie Hubble, Eryn Hubble, Bella Hubble, Julian Douliery, and Pascaline Douliery; niece Katie Hannah Toth and husband, Jim, and children; and Life Partner Elaine Farrington. There will be a Celebration of Life Commemoration at Emory & Henry College later in the year. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Paul’s honor to Emory & Henry College, P.O.
