Paul Andrew Thurston

Paul Andrew Thurston, 73, of Eagle Rock, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Mr. Thurston was the former owner of Alleghany Home Center in Covington and member of the Eagle Rock United Methodist Church and had served in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy Persinger Thurston; son, Paul Andrew Thurston, Jr.; brothers, Arthur "Buck" and Joe Thurston; sisters, Ellen Byer, Atley Gray Broughman, and Kathy Sheppard; and former wife, Pamela Haines. Survivors include his wife of almost 40 years, Lois Brookman Thurston; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Brittany Thurston of Eagle Rock; grandchildren, Emma, Cullen, Amanda, and Meagan Thurston; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jayda, and Nathaniel Kish; brothers, Jim Thurston of Bedford and Randall Thurston of Roanoke. Funeral services will be held in Eagle Rock United Methodist Church at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 with the Rev. Ray Sandifer officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 5 to 7 pm at Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14777 Church Street, Eagle Rock.
