Patricia Smith Shiflett, 81, was born in Williamson, West Virginia, January 6, 1932 and died on February 22, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major (Ret)Elbert O. (John) Shiflett; parents, Arthur and Emma Wright; brother, William H. Wright; sisters, Magdalene Branham, Helen Boggs, and Pauline Mills. She is survived by her sister, Carol Wright Miller; children, Linda Smith Johnson and her husband, Richard Lee Johnson, of Buchanan; Susan Smith Craigie and her husband, F. Willson Craigie of Richmond; Sherryl Kirkpatrick and her husband, Michael, of Madison; and Elbert O. (Mackie) Shiflett, Jr. and his wife, Susie, of McKinney, TX; beloved grandchildren Jennifer Phipps, Zachary Kirkpatrick, Matthew Johnson, Owen Shiflett, Abbey Shiflett, and Adam Carrington Smith; seven great-grandchildren; her many nieces, nephews and their families; and best friends, The Sunshine Girls. Pat retired as Purchasing Agent from Double Envelope Corporation after a long career of service. She had the honor of being the first female Deacon of her church, Springwood Baptist, served her community as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Botetourt County Republican Women. Pat was passionate about her family and friends, her church, and the Republican Party. The family will receive friends at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, VA 24066 on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at Springwood Baptist Church on Friday, March 1, at 11 a.m., with interment following in the church cemetery.
