Maynard Earl Spence

Maynard Earl Spence, 85, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Mr. Spence was a Korean Conflict Veteran and former Owner of M. E. Spence General Contracting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bass and Mary Dooley Spence and son, James E. "Jimmy" Spence. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Shirley Rucker Spence; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Brenda Spence of Troutville, Billy and April Spence of Roanoke; brothers, Butch and Juanita Spence and Larry Spence; sisters, Ruby Moran and Margaret and Roger Goad; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 19, 2018 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer Clemons officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, Va.
