Mary Louise Hammit Hawkins

Mary Louise Hammit Hawkins "Babo", 98, of Buchanan, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 23, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Hawkins "Hawkie"; parents, Oly and Jessie Hammit; sisters, Ruth Stull, Anna Lee Hess, Frances Rollins, Norma Wickline, and Margaret Stinnett. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jane Newcomb of Troutville; granddaughter, Julie Newcomb Norton and husband, Scott; great-grandchildren, Ashley and James Brooks; great-great-grandchildren, Blaise and Ryder Brooks; sister, Doris H. Racey of Woodstock; brother and sister-in-law, John and Marian Hammit of Buchanan; and former son-in-law, Roger Newcomb of Eagle Rock. Memorial Services will be held 11am, Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Trinity UMC with the Rev. Doug Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity UMC, Buchanan Fire Dept., or the Buchanan Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home.
