July 22, 1931 — November 9, 2020

Riley Stephen Foutz and Mary Jane Foutz On October 27, 1929, Riley Stephen Foutz was born to Wordie and Terressa Wheeler Foutz in Bedford County, Va. He departed his earthly home for his eternal home with his Lord and Savior on April 26, 2020. He was survived by his wife, Mary Foutz. He was predeceased by his parents and five siblings; Sidney Foutz, Nelson Foutz, Mary Wade, June Patsell and Laura Meeks. Riley proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Midway from 1948-1952. He loved talking about his time in the Navy and the special friendships he made during this time. The "Navy buddies” stayed in touch and tried to get together every year while they were able. Riley loved playing the guitar and shared his talent at the Cancer Center and various events. He enjoyed being outdoors mowing and doing various jobs outside. On July 22, 1931 Mary Jane Noell Foutz was born to Reginald and Lucille Noell in Bedford County, VA. She departed her earthly home for her eternal home with her Lord and Savior on November 9, 2020. She was predeceased by her husband, Riley Foutz and her parents. She is survived by a brother, Ray Noell ( Pauline) and sister, Dot Preston. Mary loved being with people and never met a stranger. She enjoyed cooking and was great at it. Riley and Mary Jane were married on December 2, 1950 and celebrated 69 years of marriage ... a true love story. They are survived by children; Wanda Sanderson (Rick); Ricky Foutz (Karen); Donnie Foutz (Vicky); and Terry Obenchain (Randy). We are grateful that God chose them to be our earthly parents. They are survived by grandchildren; Todd Brown (Callie); Tina Edwards (David); and Stephen Foutz (Katy); step-grandchildren; Marcy Obenchain; Jill Webb (Chris); and Holly Lipes (Richard); great grandchildren; Brendan, Gabe, Asher, and Derrick; step-great grandchildren; Layna, Grace, Ethan, and Aaron. Riley and Mary loved the Lord, each other, and their family. Everyone was always welcomed into their home and always offered food and drink to anyone visiting. They were members of Barnhardt Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Carrington Cottages and Intrepid Hospice for the care our parents received, and the compassion shown to us during this difficult time. Although we are heart broken and miss our parents very much and we know this is not the end. God has promised everlasting life to believers, and we will see them again. Due to Covid, our parents service had been delayed for safety concerns but will now be held on Saturday, July 31,2021 at 11:00 with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service at Barnhardt Baptist Church with H.L. Nolen officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Botetourt Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.botetourtfuneralhome.com
