Mary Frances Obenshain Conlon

Mary Frances Obenshain Conlon, 82, of Buchanan died on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at home surrounded by her family, following an extended illness. Mary Frances was a woman of sharp wit, patience, practicality, honesty and humor combined with a great deal of common sense, all of which she maintained to the end. Her greatest accomplishments and joys in life were her happy marriage and her closely-knit family. Mary Frances was a life-long resident of Botetourt County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rucian and Leila Cline Obenshain, and her sisters Elsie Byrd, Evelyn Harris, Lucille Obenshain and Dorothy Simmons; and niece Joanne Byrd Snead. Mary Frances will be greatly missed by her one and only true love, Robert (Bob) Conlon, her devoted husband of 64 years; her children and grandchildren: Ray Conlon and family: Diane Stover, Roanoke, VA, 2nd Lt. Benjamen and Parker Kemp, Columbus, GA, Daniel Kemp, Miami, FL; Michael and Sandra Conlon, Buchanan, VA, Miranda Conlon, Roanoke, VA; Rosanna Conlon Honts and Dr. Charles Honts, Eric Honts, Boise, ID; Joyce Conlon Overstreet and Larry Overstreet, Roanoke, VA; Mary Ann Conlon Smith and Ron Smith, Elliot Smith and Erin Smith, Buchanan, VA; and Patricia Conlon, Buchanan, VA. Also surviving are brother and sister-in-law Rucian and Jenesta Obenshain, Wirtz, VA; cousins Ann Obenshain and Jane Morris, Troutville, VA; special friend and adopted family member Joanne Clinebell, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice, especially Sandie, Brittany and Marvin. The care extended to Mary and the entire family was truly a blessing. A memorial service will be held 11am Saturday, April 27, 2013 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home.
