Mary Elizabeth Simmons West

On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, the Angels came to take Mary S. West home to be with the Lord. Mary was born March 2, 1930 to Jack L. and Margie Vines Simmons. She was sister to Harry (Bud) Simmons. Mary married Lama E. West on July 13, 1948, and they had 4 children, Gary, Diane, Robert and Theresa. Mary is survived by daughters, Diane E. West, Theresa W. Moore and her husband, Ronnie and daughter-in-law Donna West. Also surviving her are grandchildren, Christopher and Sharon Williams, Christina and Chris Gernier, Robert, Jr. and Heather West, Rodney, II and Annie Moore and Rhonda Moore. Mary has 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by several cousins. Special thanks to Kari Hodges, Dawn and Elizabeth Rogers who helped to take care of her. Thank you, too, to the staff of Richfield Nursing Home for the care they gave her. Visitation will be held in the Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14777 Church Street, Eagle Rock on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 5 to 8 pm. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Eagle Rock Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Teddy Bias and Rev. David Cox officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
