Martha "Marti" Barnett

November 30, 1953 — July 5, 2011

Marti, 57 of Daleville, was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 5, 2011. After a long battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends at home. She was a loving wife, mother, Me Me, sister and best friend. Her life centered around creating lasting memories with her only grandchild and if asked she would say she loved being a "Me Me" most of all. Marti had many dear friends which is a true testament to her kind and caring spirit. Marti is a 1972 graduate of James River High School and Ferrum College Alumni. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Edna Haymaker and Frank Nofsinger and brother, Kent Nofsinger, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 31 years, Jerry Barnett; daughter and son-in-law Amy and Brandon Evans of Daleville, grandson, Hunter Evans, brother and sister-in-law, David and Kin Nofisnger of Salem; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Michael Garrison of Fincastle; and numerous nieces, nephews and life-long friends. Special thanks to all those who made it possible for her to stay at home and to Good Samaritan Hospice. Funeral Services will be held 11am Saturday, July 9, 2011 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Hogan, Rev. Peggy Brown, Rev. Tracy Terry officiating. Those wishing to make a contribution, please consider the Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825 Electric Rd., Roanoke, VA 24018. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9pm, Friday, July 8th at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, Buchanan, 540-254-3000.
