Marian Fitzgerald Shires

Beloved Aunt Marian Fitzgerald Shires, 84, of Buchanan, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Shires, parents, Donald and Daisy Fitzgerald, and brothers, Jack, John, and Freddie Fitzgerald. She was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Betty Fitzgerald of Troutville; Margaret Fitzgerald of Roanoke; Emma Lee Roberts of Daleville; and Anne Linkenhoker of Buchanan; nieces, Sharon Fitzgerald of Troutville; Leslie and Robert Schmidt of Fort Worth, TX; Becky Vassar of Vinton; Norma and Rick Underwood of Shawsville; special nieces, Donna Johnson, Tracey Wheeler, and Joanna Wheeler all of Roanoke; special friend, Glenn Thomas of Roanoke; nephews, Donnie and Kay Fitzgerald of Boones Mill; Tommy and Diane Fitzgerald of Troutville; John L. Fitzgerald and Georgia of Roanoke; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be 10am Friday, November 30, 2012 with Funeral Services at 11am in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Woody officiating. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery. Special thanks to the nurses, staff, and residents of Friendship Assisted Living for all their care and love shown to Marian during her stay.
