Mabel Virginia Burks

Mabel Virginia Burks, 97, Buchanan, left this earth Tuesday, April 11, 2017 to be home with the Lord. She was born in Buchanan, VA on February 11, 1920 to the late Jessie and Hattie Reid. She was the youngest of four brothers and three sisters, all deceased. Mabel married Paul Lawrence Burks in 1937 in Buchanan. They had three sons, Lawrence E. and James A. Burks, deceased. She is survived by her son, Clyde Burks and wife, Faye of Roanoke; grandchildren, Clyde Burks, Jr of Roanoke; Angela LeFlore of NC; Latanya Burks of Roanoke; Christie Burks of Buchanan; 6 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mabel worked in several places including Natural Bridge and Peaks of Otter; now retired to be with the Lord. Peace be with her. Funeral Services will be held 11am Saturday, April 15, 2017 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Buchanan.
