Linda Freeman Hampton

Linda Freeman Hampton, 69, of Blue Ridge, went to be home with the Lord on Monday, May 12, 2014. She was born on March 16, 1945 in Roanoke, the daughter of Harry Elmore Freeman and Bernice Young Freeman, who both preceded her in death. Linda graduated from Central Academy High School in Botetourt County. She attended National Business College where she received a Certificate of Business. After graduation, she lived in Teaneck, NJ where she enjoyed attending the theatres and the high end fashion. Linda returned to Blue Ridge after Willie went to NJ and picked up his bride, along with her many fashions. Linda accepted Christ at an early age and has been a long term member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church; where she sang in the Mass Choir, was Secretary of the Usher Board, and did whatever else was required of her. She was employed by Atlantic Mutual Insurance Co. for 30 plus years. While employed, she was an active member of the American Business Women Association and a life member of the Blue Ridge Rescue Squad. She is forever a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Heroines of Jericho, Crusaders, The Order of the Amaranth, and Daughters of Isis. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was especially proud of her three grandchildren. Linda was known for burning in the kitchen and her impeccable hospitality. If you stayed overnight at her house you always left with a full stomach as well as a gift. Linda will be sadly missed. She leaves behind to cherish her memories and celebrate her life, a loving husband of 48 years, Willie Hampton; son, Julian Hampton of Roanoke; daughter, Michelle McCadden (Carrington) of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Jaswuan Hampton, Alexander Hampton, and Carrington McCadden Jr.; two sisters, Doris Jeter of Roanoke and Laura Preston of Petersburg; a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; and a special and devoted friend, Margaret Brown. Funeral Services will be held 11am Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Pilgram Baptist Church, 1415 8th St., Roanoke. The family will receive friends from 10-11am before the service.
