Lewis Douglas Thomas

Lewis Douglas Thomas, 86, of Buchanan, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Salem VA Hospital. He was born June 24, 1927 in Eagle Rock and was the son of the late Kenard B. and Hassie Broughman Thomas. Lewis served honorably in the US Navy and was a retired logger. He was a gentle and caring person to all of the people he met and will be deeply missed by all. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Harlow Thomas and brother, Grover K. Thomas. He is survived by his daughter, Diane T. "Sissy" Reid; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kay Thomas; grandchildren, Steven, Erin, and William Thomas all of Buchanan; his beloved Jack Russell, Buddy; and his many friends at the Carrington Place. Graveside services will be held 11am Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Marina Gopadze officiating.
