"Leo" Leander Bannister, died peacefully on the morning of December 30, 2022, at Nobel Senior Living Facility..
Leo was born on February 2, 1939, in Botetourt County, Va. to Lee Bannister Sr. and Dorothy Beverly. Leo was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and siblings. Leo is survived by his loving wife, Irene Bannister, sister, Jeannie; brother, George; children, Cynthia, Caroline, Connie, Debbie, Darhonda (Eric), Darryl, Dewanye, Dion (Julie), and Dawn; grandchildren, Shahan (Joy), Quincy (Rachel), Chester, CJ, Nakia, Anthony (passed away), Maishia, and Mandela; and great grandchildren, Shaina, Tayshan, Christian, and Carioa.
Leo lived a full and long life and was happily married to Irene for what would’ve been 43 years this coming February. One of his wife’s fondest memories is of how he treated her and he took care of the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leo enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sneaking sweets. He was known for his stories with some being a little outlandish. He was a helping hand whenever it was needed and would be there for you when you called. Leo was a loving grandfather and left his grandchildren with many cherished memories.
