Lawrence Odell Rucker

Lawrence Odell Rucker, 89, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012. Mr. Rucker had retired from the Botetourt County School Board as custodian for Lord Botetourt High School for over 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann St. Clair Rucker; parents, Arthur Hammond and Alice Stanley Rucker; sons, Arnold and Bobby Rucker; and brother, Sammy Rucker. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Brizendine and late husband, Earl of Roanoke, Dot and Robert Collins of Roanoke, Linda and Tommy Divers of Montvale, Teresa and Paul Hosey of Roanoke; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Hall of Fincastle, Christine Farris, Boley Doss, Jean Likens, and Judy Reynolds, all of Roanoke, brother, Ralph (Gloria) Rucker of Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 31, 2012 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Wilson. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm at the funeral home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, 254-3000.
