Katherine Virginia Mars

Katherine Virginia Mars, 73, of Buchanan, born October 13, 1942 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. She retired from Groendyk Manufacturing with over 45 years of dedicated service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Mars; parents, Thornton Gilliam and Elizabeth Pruitt Crouch; brother, Richard Gilliam; sisters, Mamie Davis and Joyce McCracken. She is survived by her children, Larry Gilliam and Terry Miller of Lynchburg; Carolyn Kelly and John Collins of Roanoke; Louise Bryant of Natural Bridge; Sheila Duff-Iqbal and husband, Moe of Troutville; and Wayne Mars of Buchanan; grandchildren, Jonathan, Brandy, and Dustin Gilliam; Eddie and Brandon Kelly; Ashley Ronk, Adam Bryant, Joshua Duff, and Jericka Johnson; numerous great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Beulah Gilliam of Buchanan; half-brothers, Everette and Clarence Crouch; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of 8 West of Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion. Funeral Services will be held 12 noon Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in High Bridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm, Friday, October 16, 2015 at Botetourt Funeral Home, Buchanan, 540-254-3000.
