Juanita Goode Lipes

Juanita Goode Lipes, 89, of Buchanan, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 after a long illness. She was a member of the Buchanan Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years and a member of the Hazel Moon Circle. Juanita retired from the Bank of Botetourt after 37 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Lipes; parents, Everett and Gladys Goode; brothers-in-law, Harvery Ransone and Harold Lipes; and sisters-in-law, Libby, Doris, and Lois Ann. She is survived by her sister, Thelma Ransone of Buchanan; brother, Bobby Goode and wife, Betty of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Rose Lipes Cox of Buchanan; nieces, Beth Lipes and husband, David; Deana Kelsey and husband, John; Sue Bane; and Lori East; and nephews, Justin Lipes, Dalton Lipes, and David Mabry. The family would like to give special thanks to Dixie Tolley for her love and care given to Juanita and the Carrington Place, especially the nursing staff. Funeral Services will be held 3pm Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Woody officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buchanan Baptist Church or the Buchanan Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm before the service on Saturday.
