John Martin

John Martin, 76, of the Jennings Creek area of Buchanan, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Myrtle Higgins Martin; sisters, Cecil Louise Smith, Eulane A. Martin, Margaret "Sis" Beverly, Emma S. Martin, Ernestine C. Martin, and Ressie E. Beverly; brothers, Rodney H. Martin, Wiley R. Martin, Emory H. Martin, J. Cleo Martin, E. Glen Martin, and Hunter "Sam" Martin. John had retired from Robertson-Fowler Construction with over 25 years service. He loved to hunt and fish in stream and mountains surrounding his home. He was also a member of Jennings Creek Gospel Church. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Moore Martin; sons, J. Wayne Martin and wife, Angie, Joseph "Danny" Martin and wife, Edie; daughters, Deborah Burch and husband, Jay, Diana Thomasson, and Donna Waller; grandchildren, Danielle Kelley and husband, Greg, Jared Martin, Jessica Burch, Jonathan Burch, Hannah Burch, Madlyn Martin, Hayden Thomasson, Emmett Thomasson; great-granddaughter, Selene Kelley, and numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, February 12, 2012 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt with Pastor Eugene Mills officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 on Saturday, February 11, 2012.
