John G. "Jack" Kearney, 92, of Buchanan, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014. Jack was born in Leonia, New Jersey on January 20, 1922 and graduated from Georgia Tech with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Kearney founded Kearney Industries and Sematco, Inc. He was a paratrooper in the US Army and earned the rank of 2nd Lieutenant when he served in the Southeast Asian Theatre, and he also served with the Office of Strategic Services as a Maintenance Officer in China and Burma during WW II. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and John J. Kearney; and sister, Stella Hanisch. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Jean Kearney; three daughters, Susan Sisk of Atlanta, GA, Jill Teske of Tampa, FL, Jane Anderson of Lancaster, MA; stepdaughter, Sandy Wilson of Roanoke; stepson, Aaron Moneymaker of Ft. Wayne, IN.; granddaughters, Tracy Sisk of Conyers, GA, Kealy Wilson of Washington, DC, and Cristina Teske of Tampa, FL; grandsons, Paul Teske and Daniel Teske of Tampa, FL, Sven Anderson and Eric Anderson Lancaster, MA; great-grandson, Easton Teske of Tampa, FL; nephews, Phillip Berube, Dan Berube, and Dennis Berube; and his special friend, his dog Curley. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 11:00 am in Springwood Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Harold E. Cook, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan.
