James Stanley Hickman

James Stanley Hickman, 74, of Buchanan, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021. Stanley, a professional logger who loved hunting, fishing, walking his mountains, and foraging for mushrooms and ginseng. He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. and Betty Sloan Hickman. Survivors include his children Todd Hickman, Michael Hickman, Karen Hickman (John) Moseley, and Jamey Hickman, all of Buchanan; sister, Etta Alexander; special sister-in-law, Arlene Hickman; grandchildren, Katherine and fiancee’ Charles, Thomas Allen, Kaitlynne Sue and Elden, Nicholas, and Payton; great-grandchildren, Kevin James, Klara Sue, Elden James-Dale Karter. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, Va. 24066. Interment will follow in Mount Bethel Church of the Brethren. Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the funeral home.
