James Robert Newcomb

James Robert "Pete" Newcomb, 80, of Buchanan, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018. Pete had retired from James River Limestone as a heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Dewitt "Ped" and Gladys Ethel Hawkins Newcomb; son, James Ray "Booger" Newcomb; sister, Jean Newcomb Harper; and brothers, George Lee Cox and Lewis Dewitt "Hook" Newcomb. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosalie Ray Newcomb; children, Betty (Larry) Newcomb, Angela Newcomb, Deborah Newcomb, Kenneth Newcomb, Allen (Missy) Newcomb, all of Buchanan; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna Cox, Susie Newcomb, and Dovey Ramsey. The Family will receive friends Friday, January 18, 2019 from 11 to 12 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, Pete's funeral service will begin at 12 Noon with Pastor Jerome Coleman officiating.
