James Essie Brown Smith

James Essie Brown Smith, 91, of Eagle Rock, went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, May 26, 2016. Mr. Smith was an US Army Veteran serving during WW II. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary Jane "Janie" Elizabeth Deacon Smith on June 8, 2014; his parents, William E. and Georgia Grace All Smith; four brothers, and one sister. Survivors include his children, Diane and Gary Walker of Covington, Donald and Alice Smith of Troutville, Dennis Smith and friend, Barbara Bradley of Eagle Rock, Dale and Sandy Smith of Eagle Rock, Delma and Gary Tingler of Eagle Rock; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Juanita Smith of Lexington; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; special friends, Lois and Charles Elliott of Fincastle. The family would like to especially thank Audine and J.L. Dillon, the staffs of Carrington Place, Medi Home Health and Hospice, Cheryl Seibel, and Meghan Bradley for their compassionate care and love for our father. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 4pm in Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Sandifer officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm, Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, Va 540-254-3000 and one hour prior the service on Sunday at 3pm at the church.
