Jackie Lee Markham

Jackie Lee Markham, 80, of Buchanan, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014. Jackie had worked for over 40 years as a gas company service technician. He then served the County of Botetourt as a school bus driver for over 7 years. He loved baseball, music, and eating… but the love of his life was his wife, Bugs. Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Clarence and Elizabeth Dewey Markham; sisters, Wilma Markham and Lib Wright. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Madeline "Bugs" Duke Markham; sons and daughter-in-law, Roger and Laurie Markham of Buchanan, Randy Markham of Buchanan and close friend, Mitzi Howell; granddaughter, Abby Markham; former wife, Nancy Markham of Buchanan; sister, Raye Rice of Buchanan; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd M. and Barbara A. Markham of Buchanan; nieces and nephews, Betty Wilson, Tommy Wright, Cindy Downs, Mark Rice, Jason Markham, and Jennifer Hulvey; and special friend, David Austin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, August 25, 2014 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Lithia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 2 to 4 pm at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan 540-254-3000.
