Irene Cadd` Backman

Irene C. Backman, 95, of Buchanan, was welcomed by angels on April 19, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Backman. Irene lived her entire life, until the age of 92, in Buchanan, VA. She moved to Richmond VA to receive supportive care as her health declined, but her heart was always in Buchanan. She was very active in the Town Improvement Society, the Rebekah Lodge, the Buchanan Baptist Church, the Red Hat club and all things Buchanan until she was unable to continue those activities. She is survived by two children, Jennifer Backman and LaVonne Durcan, as well as five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Botetourt Funeral Home on Sunday, April 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 25 at 2 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Buchanan.
