Howard Chester Neely

Howard Chester Neely, Jr., 82, of Buchanan, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018. Howard served his country in the Air Force from 1953-1959 in Japan. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Neely. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Neely; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Burt Sampson; grandchildren, Marisa and Reed Sampson, Samantha and Jake Farquhar, and Christopher Neely; great-granddaughter, Catie Farquhar; step-daughters, Beth (Chris) Shugg and Becky (Mike) Korom; step-grandchildren, Ben, Connor, Katie, Mary Beth, and Will; and sister, Sally Thompson. A memorial gathering will be held 11am Monday, January 8, 2018 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit on the 10th Floor of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
