Harry Mac Williamson

Harry M. Williamson, Jr, 89, of Fincastle, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Friendship Health and Rehab, Roanoke, Virginia. He was born September 9, 1925 to the late Harry M, Sr. and Vannie Short Williamson. Harry Mac was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Strickler Williamson; son, Dennis Rea Williamson; brother, M.M. "Jack" Williamson; and sisters, Lorena Booze, Mildred Matlack, Margaret Stevens, and Louise Snyder. Surviving are his sons, H. Mac III and wife, Sandy Williamson, David Lee and wife, Sarah Williamson; four grandchildren, Justin Williamson, Carrie Williamson, Heather Zoccali, and Eric Williamson; also four great-grandchildren, his special golfing buddy, Logan Williamson, Katelynn Furry, Conner Walsh, and Max Zoccali; and special friend, Peggy C. Davis. Harry Mac was a lifetime member of Wheatland Lutheran Church, having served as Sunday School teacher and Council member. He and his father operated a dairy and beef cattle farm in Botetourt County. During that time he was elected President of the Young Farmers of Virginia. Later, he was the first Farm Bureau Insurance Agent in Botetourt County. Harry Mac also served 27 years on the Botetourt Industrial Authority. From 1957 until 2006, he and his wife, Dot, owned and operated Pine Haven Tree Farm, one of the first tree farms in the State of Virginia. He loved golf and was elected to the Botetourt Country Club Hall of Fame in 2009. On September 1, 1965, he began his employment as assistant cashier for the Bank of Fincastle, he retired as President and CEO on September 1, 1987, and continued to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors until September 1, 2010, having 45 years of service. The family would like to thank the staff of Friendship Health and Rehab for their care. Visitation will be held at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, VA 24066, 540-254-3000 on Monday, August 17, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Wheatland Lutheran Church with Rev. John W. McCandlish officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wheatland Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 1560 Wheatland Road, Buchanan, VA 24066.
