Gertrude Mcdaniel Light

Gertrude McDaniel Light, 94, of Buchanan, passed away Monday, October 4, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry B. Light; her parents, Whitman and Sara Chittum McDaniel; three brothers and six sisters. Mrs. Light was a member of Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren, had retired from Burlington Industries, and was a Nanny for Bobby and Sarah Hagan. Survivors include nieces and nephews, Betty and Claude Picard, Mildred and Melvin Sloan, Clarence and Pam McDaniel, Jimmy and Wanda McDaniel, Marie and Wayne Burge, William and Mary Hill, Jr., and Nancy and John Custer; special great-niece, Carol (Jerry) Kessler; special friends, Rose Barger, Rob and Charlotte Hagan, Molly O'Dell, Pat Huff, Dennis Eubank, Doris and Wayne Shanks. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, October 8, 2010 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Tabor and Rev. Tim Spear officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery~Buchanan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, (540-254-3000).
