Genevieve O'Connor Thrasher

Genevieve O'Connor Thrasher, 49 plus, of Buchanan, was decades younger than her chronological birth date would indicate. The wife of the late Otho John Thrasher III, she was a poet, friend, believer in Christ, a Sunshine Girl, beloved mother to Susan Jeanette Rader and adored mother- in- law of Richard A. Rader. She will live on in the lives of her grandchildren, Jennifer Rader Windley of Jacksonville, Florida, Richard A. Rader II, of Roanoke, Virginia, and great grandchild, Grayson Thrasher Windley. She loved and cared deeply for Jennifer's husband, Lance Windley, and Richard's wife, Emily. She was predeceased by brothers, James, Kenneth, Joe and Ray O'Connor; sister, Madeline O'Connor, as well as her parents, Larry O'Connor and Virginia Rose O'Connor. She is also predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Seren Virginia Windley. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Francis O'Connor and a brother-in-law, Ben Thrasher. A special "Thanks" to Steve Thrasher (nephew), Stacey Clark (niece), and Shirley Stinnett (dear friend) who assisted her in the last hours of her life. Her sudden passing leaves a void in all of the lives she touched, all the laughs and smiles will live on in our memories. The rejoicing of her entrance into the Eternal Kingdom is met with the sadness of her departure from those fortunate enough to have ever known her. Funeral Services will be held 11am, Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Springwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Clingenpeel officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Springwood Baptist Church, 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan, Va 24066. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Botetourt Funeral Home, Buchanan.
