Garland Francis Wiley,

March 26, 1926 — March 31, 2013

Garland F. Wiley, Jr. age 87 passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. Born in Eagle Rock March 26, 1926 to Garland, Sr. and Gladys Via Wiley, Mr. Wiley served his country in the U.S. Navy on active duty from 1944 to 1946 and remained on inactive duty until 1953. He was proud to have served aboard the USS Bergall SS320. He retired from Allied Chemical Corp. (now Honeywell, International) in 1988. Mr. Wiley was a gifted Machinist. He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Opal C. Wiley; brother, Kenny Wiley of Eagle Rock; sons and daughters-in-law, David L. and Marsha Wiley of Prince George; Mark G. and Janet Wiley of Youngstown, OH; three grandchildren, Scott Wiley, Susie Brotzman, and Brandi Ferguson; seven great-grandchildren; and special niece, Peggy Ashe. Mr. Wiley also wanted to say thank you for the support given by his best friend, Alvin (Al) Poff, whom he met while a resident of Eastwood Assisted Living in Roanoke, VA, and special thanks to all involved in his care at Friendship Manor and Eastwood Assisted Living. Funeral Services will be held 11am Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Marsh officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with DAV Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior the service.
