Ethel Mae Sayles Bannister

Ethel Mae Sayles Bannister, 91, of Roanoke formerly of Buchanan, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, John “John Bill” William Bannister; parents, Ed Banks and Rosa Sayles Tucker; daughters, Patricia Cooper and Judy Bannister; and son, Theodore Bannister. She is survived by her children, Brenda Harris, John (Sharon) Bannister, Jr., Phyllis McNeal, Edith Blake, Wanda Bannister, Jeanette (Russell) Taylor, Jasper Bannister, Calvin Bannister, and Kevin Bannister; daughter-in-law, Linda Bannister; granddaughter “daughter”, Rachel (Christopher) Gravely; 31 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; 64 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Tucker; sister-in-law, Linda Tucker; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday July 30th from 1-2pm with funeral services at 2pm in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Ivory Morton officiating.
