Elmer Wesley Alls Jr., 95 of Roanoke, went home to be with his Savior on Thursday, February 15, 2024. He was born to Elmer W Alls Sr. and Mae Lugar Alls October 9, 1928.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law Donald Alls and Elizabeth Alls and well, to be honest a lot of people. Elmer was ready to go home for over 30 years, even though he really was in excellent health most of his life, the last few months being the exception. He loved people, and his two careers kept him around people. Elmer worked for H&C Coffee of Roanoke until his first retirement at age 70 or so. Then he went on to deliver parts for Advance Auto Parts and did that until he turned 91.
He loved real Nascar racing and professional wrestling. Some of the family's fondest memories involve going to or watching those events with him.
Elmer loved God and served Him at Good News Baptist Church for over 30 years. Then on to Gospel Light Baptist Church for the last 25 years.
He was always quick with a smile for people, or a smart remark if needed.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, (Colelia) Margaret Alls, son and daughter in law Wesley and Melissa, three adoring grandchildren, James, David and Autumn as well as many nieces and nephews and loving friends.
A viewing will be held at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 6307 Cloverdale Road,Roanoke on Sunday, February 18 at 3pm followed by the funeral service conducted by Pastor Emeritus Earl Clemmons and Pastor Wayne Wyatt of Gospel Light Baptist Church. The burial will be for family at a later date.
