Elmer David Parker, Sr., 73, of Troutville, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Mr. Parker owned and operated Parker's Refuse Service in Troutville for over forty years, was President of the Roanoke Valley Mineral and Gem Society, and a member of the Roanoke Valley Harley-Davidson Owner's Group. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucy Wheeler Parker; son, Elmer David Parker, Jr., of Troutville; daughters and son-in-law, Doris Jean and Gary Mullins of Troutville; Bonnie Parker of Roanoke; grandchildren, Misty Parker, Summer (Justin) Pippert, April Parker, Josh (Kaitlyn) Parker, Marcus (Rachel) Parker, and Stormy Parker; great-grandchildren, Isis Parker, Jace Pippert, Kylie Pippert, Rylee Parker, and Araya Parker; sisters, Marie Pendleton of Moneta, and Carol (Roy) Loope of Buchanan; special friends, Sonny Moore and Jack Jennings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 3, 2014 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Rev. Bryan Lawrence officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan (540) 254-3000.
