Elmer David Parker, Jr., 53, of Troutville, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014. Elmer was a driver/operator for Parker Refuse Service and loved stamp collecting, woodworking, and working on automobiles. He was a member of the Roanoke Valley Mineral and Gem Society and had served in the U S Army as a Forward Artillery Surveyor. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer David Parker Sr. on December 31, 2013; his infant son, Michael Lloyd Parker; his grandparents, Bertha Mae Kelley Parker Conner and Lloyd Elmer Parker, Amanda Johnson Wheeler and Obie K. Wheeler; He is survived by his mother, Lucy Wheeler Parker; son and daughter-in-law, Josh (Katelyn) Parker of Vinton; daughters, April Parker and Stormy Parker, both of Henry County; granddaughters, Rylee Parker, and Raelynn Parker on the way; sisters and brother-in-law, Doris Jean and Gary Mullins of Troutville; Bonnie Parker of Roanoke; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and special friend, Morris Gilliam. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Rev. Bryan Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 5 to 7 pm at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan (540) 254-3000.
