Edna Thurston Ransone

Edna Thurston Ransone, 96, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of Buchanan, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. She was born April 20, 1922 to Vivian Earnest Thurston, Sr. and Lillian McCoy Thurston of Glen Wilton. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook and worked at Lapes Federated Store then at the Peaks of Otter for over 20 years until retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Tom" Ransone, Sr.; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred Louise "Sue" Crawford and William Stewart Crawford, Sr.; and numerous members of the Ransone Family. She is survived by her son, Thomas R. Ransone, Jr.; daughter, Rebecca Ransone Hutchison; grandchildren, Nichole Maute, Rachel Ransone, Thomas Ransone, III, Jennifer Dooley, Ashley Hutchison, Jordy Hutchison, Joshua Hutchison; great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Lillian Dooley, Ava Grace Maute, Lucas Hutchison; niece, Barbara Crawford; nephews, Joe Crawford and Billy Crawford; sister-in-law, Isabelle Ransone Watts; special niece, Kitty Sue Booze; other nieces, nephews, and members of the Ransone Family. Visitation will be held 1-2pm Saturday, October 6, 2018 with memorial services at 2pm at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Flowers are beautiful, however those wishing to make a contribution, please consider the Buchanan Baptist Church.
