Edna Logan Sloan

Edna Lee Logan Sloan, 93, of Roanoke, entered into rest on Saturday, December 30, 2017. She was born and raised in the Callaway area of Franklin County, became the bride of Irvin W. in 1946 where they settled in Roanoke, joined Fellowship Baptist Church, and raised two children, Joyce Lee and Irvin Ray. Edna had worked for Roanoke Mills, the Roanoke Rescue Mission, Eli Lilly, and Botetourt Funeral Home. She did obtain her driver's license later on in life, drove once, and then never drove again. She was a Preacher's wife in every sense of the title, helping Irvin in his endeavors as a Minister of the Gospel for over 50 years at Good News Baptist Church in Roanoke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Irvin Wilford Sloan in September 2013; parents, Minnie Frances Brown Logan Young and William Henry Logan, Sr., brothers, Elmer Daniel Logan, Sr. and William Henry Logan, Jr. Edna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Mike Wingfield; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Bobbi Sloan; grandchildren, Michele and Donovan Haynes, Christopher Sloan, Joshua Wingfield and Dee Dee Wingfield, Karen Conner Hall and Eric Hall, Kevin and Katie Conner; great-grandchildren, Adriana and Eric Haynes, and Jacob, Tucker, and Trevor Wingfield, and Kayla Lugar; sisters-in-law, Ruth Likens Sloan Holmes and Mary Logan; and the many members of the Brown, Logan, and Sloan Families, and the Fellowship and Good News Church Families. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 5 to 6 pm at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, where her funeral service will begin at 6:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Mike Wingfield, Rev. Marina Gopadze, and Rev. Dave Mucha officiating. There will be a reception following the service in the Logan Room of the funeral home. Interment will be private in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem.
