Drew

Everett LaDrew Dennis affectionately called Drew, a beloved father, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin and native of Buchanan, Virginia, passed away February 25, 2023. He was 63 years old.

Drew was predeceased by his parent’s, Everett L. Dennis, father, and Jacqueline Beatrice Sparrow Dennis, mother. Drew grew up in Buchanan alongside his siblings Susan Dennis Santiesteban and Edwin L. Dennis. Drew attended Ferrum College and later relocated to Norfolk Virginia to attend Old Dominion University.

Drew settled in Virginia Beach, where he built a successful career with United Parcel Service (UPS). He was widely respected by his colleagues and clients for his expertise, dedication, and kindness. Drew was active in the Teamsters (TNBC), voter registration drives with the Democratic National Party. After more than 25 years, he retired in 2016 and started working for his dear friend Joe Phillips at Joe’s Landscaping. Outside of work, Drew was a bicycle enthusiast. You could find him cycling daily and participating in multiple cycling clubs. He was happiest burning up the road and logging miles with his friends.

Drew was a devoted father and brother who cherished spending time with his family. He was a loving uncle to Jacqueline, Victoria, Cameron and Madison known for his warm smile, infectious laugh, he was the original “ fun uncle”. The title Drew embraced more than any other was that of “father”. His greatest joy was being daddy to Tanner LaDrew. From the moment she was born, they were inseparable. Drew never shied away from daddy duties. He was forever a hands on dad front and center, serious about being an active parent. Always desiring to be on the cutting edge of technology and made sure Tanner was too. Drew had a generous spirit, always quick to smile and offer assistance to friends, neighbors and strangers alike. He was a God-fearing man.

LaDrew will be deeply missed by his daughter, siblings, nieces, nephew, aunts, numerous cousins and all those who knew and loved him. A memorial service was held in Virginia Beach at Altmeyer Funeral Home. A memorial graveside service will be held1pm Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Indian Rock Baptist Church Cemetery along side his parents.
