Douglas Dixon Reed

Douglas Dixon Reed, Sr., 76, of Daleville, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018. He was born on August 15, 1942 in Prairie City, Iowa to the Robert Early Reed and Virginia Madge (Meredith) Reed. He is predeceased by his parents, one sister Nora Madge (Reed) Pullen, a daughter Pamela Gail Reed, a grandson Douglas Dixon Reed III, and a granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Reed. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judith Ellen Trail Reed. His two sons, Stephen Douglas Reed and wife Andora of Indian Land, South Carolina, and Douglas Dixon Reed, Jr and wife Tracie of Mountain Grove, Virginia. He is survived by 2 grandsons, Jonathan Sturgill and Kyle Douglas Reed; and one granddaughter Gabrielle Lynn Reed. Douglas served in the United States Navy from 1959 - 1963 stationed on the USS Forestall. He had retired from Carter Machinery in Salem, Virginia after 46 years. He was a member of Dale Ridge church of Christ and leaves behind many brothers and sisters in Christ. A memorial service will be held at the Dale Ridge Church of Christ in Cloverdale, Virginia on Saturday, September 29 at 12:00 pm. Visitation will be prior to the service that day at 11 am.
