Dorothy Naomi Shorter Teaford

Dorothy Naomi Shorter Teaford, 89, of Wirtz, formerly of Eagle Rock, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Everett Teaford; daughter, Patsy Jo Byers; parents, Eldon and Elsie Shorter; sisters, Frances Shorter, Nancy Parrish, Ruth Latrenta, Marian Rhea, and Josephine Knick; brothers, Burton, Woodson, and Ernest Shorter. She is survived by her children and spouses, Mike and Janie Teaford of Gretna; Brenda Sue Richards of Vinton; Steven and Judy Teaford of Shady Springs, WV; Donna and Danny Rose of Wirtz; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, E.B. Shorter of Newport News; Doug Shorter of Sophie, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her family of caregivers at Franklin Health and Rehab and Gentle Shepherd Hospice. Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in Forest Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Faison officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home.
