Dorothy Ellen Vassar Sorrell

Dorothy Ellen Vassar Sorrell, 87, of Buchanan, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Dot was a member of Buchanan Presbyterian Church and retired from the Botetourt County Health Department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Sorrell; parents, Sidney, Sr. and Cottie Vassar; brothers, Sidney, Jr. and Alfred Vassar; and sisters, Minnie Painter, Lorene Shorter, and Mary Reid. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Toby and Debby Sorrell of Roanoke; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Troy Mullis of Mooresville, NC; Dorothy and Tommy Middlecamp of Buchanan; grandchildren, Ellen Mundy, Cammie Mundy, Karrie Shepherd, Nicole Gibson, Lucas Sorrell, Megan Sanders, and Matt Middlecamp; and seven great-grandchildren. Special thanks to neighbors and friends, Mike Kneisley, Tom and Nancy Middlecamp, Isabelle Watts, and Staff of Our Lady of the Valley. Funeral Services will be held 11am, Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Buchanan Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Marina Gopadze officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
