Diane Lynn Waterfield Ensminger

October 11, 1954 — March 16, 2025

Diane “Ms.E” Lynn Ensminger, 70, a loving mother, cherished Nana, and the heart of our

family, passed away on March 16, 2025.

Diane’s greatest joy in life was her family. As a mother, she was kind, caring, and always

there with an open heart. To her grandchildren, she was the best Nana anyone could ever

ask for. Her love for them knew no bounds, and they were truly the center of her world.

Diane was the foundation of our family, offering unwavering support and strength to all

who knew her.

Diane retired from Botetourt County Schools after 19 years of dedicated service.

Throughout her career, she formed countless lifelong friendships, many of which she

considered family. Her kindness and generous spirit made a lasting impact on everyone

she met.

In her personal life, Diane had a heart as big as the world. She was always ready to give,

love, and help anyone in need. She found joy in the simple things, especially in the

companionship of her beloved "mutt" buddy, who brought her comfort and happiness in

her later years.

Diane will be missed beyond measure, but her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will

live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She is survived by her children, Emily

(Adam) Martin, Katie (Adam) Richardson, Michael (Corey) Ensminger; her grandchildren

who adored her, Brianna (Shannon) Woods, Owen-Ray Richardson, Michael Ensminger,

Finley Ensminger, Harper Lynn Ensminger; Great Grandson, Riley Michael Woods; Siblings,

Frank “Bubba” Waterfield, Helen (Douglas) Foiles-Taylor; Special sister – in-laws, Shelly

(Jay) Moore, Ann Waterfield; numerous nieces and nephew; and her loving special friends

from LBHS and CAMS. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael

Howard Ensminger; beloved grandson, Ethan Richardson; parents Ray and Emily

Waterfield; her brother and sister, Ray “Butch” Waterfield and Mary Francis Waterfield.
