Delores Jeanette Newcomb

Delores Jeanette McAllister Newcomb, 69, of Buchanan, beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter S. McAllister; mother, Ruby Parrish McAllister Sloan; and brother, Gary McAllister. She was employed by Groendyk for over 30 years. Delores was a very loving Mother and Grandmother who never met a stranger. She had a heart of gold and the determination of steel. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lewis "Hook" Newcomb; sons and daughters-in-law, Darryl Newcomb of Buchanan, Rob and Sandy Newcomb of Eagle Rock, Dana and Kristine Newcomb of Buchanan; her beloved grandchildren, Jeremy, Matthew, Mallory, Tyler, and Andrew; sisters and brothers, Barbara (Junior) Wymer of Buchanan, Cecil (Nadine) McAllister of Eagle Rock, Scotty (Linda) McAllister of Roanoke, Teresa (Robert) Patterson of Largo, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 20, 2010 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Boone and Pastor Walter Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department, P O Box 244, Buchanan, VA 24066. The family will receive friends Thursday (Aug 19) from 6 to 8 pm at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan (254-3000).
