Della "Gubby" Marie Powell

Della Marie "Gubby" Powell, 97, of Buchanan, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Rhodes and Walter Powell; several sisters and one brother. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Rita Rhodes of Buchanan; grandchildren, Sandra and Jerry Jessee, Donna and Mike Cox, and Christy and Michael Barry; great-grandchildren, Matthew Cox, Erin Basham, Emma Jessee, and Ripley Barry; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Alice Swartz of Sharpsburg, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held 12 noon Friday, March 23, 2012 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Woody officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Buchanan Rescue Squad, PO Box 244, Buchanan, VA 24066 or the Buchanan Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box Buchanan, VA 24066.
