Curtis Coleman Deacon

Curtis Coleman Deacon, 81, of Buchanan, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Owen Deacon; parents, Earman and Martha Deacon; brothers, Everette, Scott, Kenneth, Bruce, Clarence, and Carlyle Deacon. He formerly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Curtis was a semi-retired AFLAC employee with over 50 years of service. He started and owned several businesses in the Buchanan area over the years. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Curtis H. and Debbie Deacon; daughter, Crystal D. Young all of Buchanan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Boyd and Laura Deacon, Boliver and Darlene Deacon, Bernard and Nancy Deacon; grandchildren, Amber Young, Morgan Deacon, and Owen Deacon and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Deacon. Funeral Services will be held 11 am, Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Woody officiating. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buchanan Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 537, Buchanan, VA 24066 or Cedar Bluff Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 915, Buchanan, VA 24066. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home.
